Stick-to-itiveness can be developed.

  1.  Some of the greatest growth in your life will come when you feel most defeated and out of control. As you go through resistance, pay attention to the lessons it serves. Wisdom and grit come from experiencing the good, the bad and the ugly. Learn from what you do.
  2.  Make the tough calls. The wasted time in the drama ABOUT the call, the task, the conversation, the decision, etc., is time and energy subtracted from getting the action done, therefore Start poorly if you have to, but START.
  3.  Control your emotions. Negative emotions sap your mental strength and diminish you in every way and It’s normal to feel a wide range of emotions. When you feel stress, pressure, negativity…take a breath or three and silently tell yourself how you’d like to feel and perform instead. Just searching for the right words and positive feeling will start moving you to the better place in your head.
  4.  Mental strength sometimes means following your gut reactions. We all have over 100 million neuron (brain) cells in our gut. New neuroscience findings show a coordination in the gut to brain transfer of impulse. Pay attention to ‘out of the box’ answers and solutions that come to you.
  5.  Be kind. When others are rude exercise kindness instead of losing your positive mindset. Mental toughness, in part, is about staying on your course. Distractions and their resultant lack of focus can make you feel the victim, create doubts and break your stride.
  6.  Be accountable for your actions. How you deal with people or yourself will be remembered by you and them long after the action has been done, so how you see yourself frames how you do things going forward. How others see you is their business, but leaving impressions of integrity and strong character can never be a bad thing.
  7.  Expect and accept delayed gratification. Tough minded people usually function with the mindset that, if you put in the work, the results will follow. Do the work and Confidence is generally the first reward. Other’s approval and dollars usually follow.
