It’s a Snap!

It’s a Snap!

Negative thoughts done over and over and/or with great emotional impact create negative habits. When these become Go-To thoughts, not only are poor decisions made, but you feel out of control and powerless. Caving in to your self-acknowledged weaknesses creates a negative loop of negative thoughts to negative actions. It’s a snap to change this loop.
Breaking that loop of behavior is why self-hypnosis exists.
It makes sense, that replacing thoughts of what you don’t want with thoughts of what you DO want, is the answer. Hypnosis will speed up the learning of new habits and attitudes 2 to 5 times faster.
That being said, there are some habits within us all that are harder to change than others. We normally make those habits harder by the way we deal with them. We reinforce the out of control habit in casual conversations, inventing excuses, negative self talk, making jokes or creating self deprecating labels.  Failure begets failure.
So if you’re already doing all the right things and you’re still not finding results, here are:

2 Eureka ideas that will help immediately

1)  Wear a loose fitting rubber band around either wrist. As you catch yourself going for that extra piece of pie, or quitting the calls you really need to make, or are about to lose your temper, or crave an extra, over the limit beer, snap the rubber band to create the obvious sting. Maybe once, maybe more.
Urges will usually peak for 15-30 seconds. If those urges are overridden by pain, the urges will dissipate. It’s a simple distraction in the brain that will allow you to make a better choice.
Do that often enough and the excessive behavior becomes associated with pain. Habits are about what pleases or displeases your brain. That brain chemistry can change with training.
2)  When you’ve distracted yourself with the wrist sting, immediately decide what the next best action is to be and do it. Don’t over think. Act ‘As If’ this behavior is natural and positive. Feelings of self-control, confidence and a positive self-image happen by creating small victories.
Change and personal development doesn’t have to be hard.  Use these little but powerful success hacks and realize how comfortable regaining your self-control and self esteem can be.
