One of the hardest lessons in life is learning to let go. Whether it’s guilt, anger, love, loss, bad habits or attitudes. Change is never easy. We fight to hold on and we fight to let go. However, we really don’t have to fight these things. In fact, there is no ‘hard’ or ‘easy,’ there is what exists. How we perceive the world, through our personal biases (read as opinions) creates our emotional leaning.
Learning to let go and not be consumed by the stuff that happens every day, doesn’t mean you don’t care. It is more about adjusting to being present and responding rather than reacting. The human default is to be protective, but we’ve learned over the past millions, and more specifically, over the past 300,000 years of brain evolution and experience, how to keep moving forward by focusing our attention and critical thinking skills.
And then there was meditation. Lots of different kinds, so lots of choices. No one path works for everyone. The main premise is basically the same regardless of the procedure or guru in charge. Still the mind. Peace. Do it in small increments, but practice with consistency. Be kind. The end game is to create/reveal a state of peace and serenity within; a go-to place when all else around you is noisy and chaotic. Good for lowering blood pressure, calming frayed nerves, improving the immune system, getting your head back in the game, a sense of empowerment. Also, good to share with the world around us.
Mindfulness is basically meditation with a newer name. Practitioners talk of being present and in the moment, bringing intention. Being aware and alive in the moment as a practice allows for this focused state to be available throughout the day. Practice allows one to respond rather than react in a knee jerk way. Numerous health benefits ranging from reducing stress, worry, anxiety and depression, improving sleep, weight control (impulse control) and aging gracefully can come from practicing mindful meditation. It’s all good.
Hypnosis is a state of relaxation, similar to mindful meditation, producing an Alpha (slower) brain wave. Whether you relax by focusing on breathing, imagined pastoral scenes, sounds, mantras, count downs or a progressive relaxation from the head to the toes, relaxation is the beginning of most sessions. Plus all the other benefits of meditation are there. ‘Get it together’ on the inside first…then the outside world is much easier to negotiate.
The plus for hypnosis is that when the mind is relaxed, it is a better listener and a better learner.
When the brain is relaxed it is easier to create new neural passageways for improving performance and shifting thought patterns. Want to make changes and improvements faster and much more easily? Than hypnosis is probably for you. Want to sleep better at night, drop 20 pounds, scale up sales, communicate more powerfully, develop better listening skills, improve memory, improve your health, read faster…?
You created YOU by how you have been thinking. To improve, whether on the golf course, in bed, studying, public speaking…in this state of relaxation, tell yourself, see yourself and feel yourself doing just that. Nothing new about afirmations. Nothing new about NeuroLinguistic Programming. And there is nothing new about most people beginning the practice of meditation/mindfulness and quitting, because 1. they keep forgetting, 2. they can’t concentrate, 3. they can’t relax, 4. they fall asleep, 5. 6. 7. 8……lot’s of sabotaging reasons/excuses to disconnect.
If you’re interested in learning the process, you naturally begin by watching, learning and asking questions, and then starting. Showing up, as with most things, is half the process. Consistency brings the huge dividends. And here is where most fall down.
So if you’re one of those who see the benefits, but could never stay consistent, or just want to ‘fast track’ your results, may I offer a solution? A Personalized Hypnosis Session. Great way to insure that New Year’s resolutions come true.
Many of the thousands of sessions I’ve created have been life changers. For some I create new, updated sessions every 6 months or a year because life goals and visions change and because this works!
